Review: BFree Sweet Potato Wraps

One of the things I've been missing most since going gluten free are wraps. They're always a handy lunch idea because of their simplicity and versatility. I'm also a sucker for Mexican food, and count fajitas as among my favourite foods.

So when I took a trip to my local supermarket last week and found that BFree did a range of gluten-free wraps, made from sweet potato, I had to give them a go. At £3.50 per pack they aren't cheap by any means, but they were worth it to treat myself. Once I got home I made fajitas for me and my flatmate and settled down to have them. However, upon opening the packet I discovered that they were mouldy and unfit to eat! What a shame, particularly on the day of purchase!

I contacted BFree who apologised and agreed to send me some replacement products for my troubles. So imagine my joy when I received a parcel yesterday from BFree! It contained some sweet potato wraps and also a sample of their pittas, which was a great added extra. Thanks BFree!

I had made fajitas again, and this time got to really taste the BFree wraps. On the whole I was pretty impressed. While the wraps themselves were fairly plain, perhaps a little bland, they were a great accompaniment to the fajitas. They held together nicely and were a more than ample replacement for wheat tortilla wraps - they also had a really great texture and didn't break or crack whilst I was eating them. Even my non-coeliac housemate, who usually can't stand my gluten free food, tried them and enjoyed them. These wraps would be an ideal for a lunchtime snack or to go with a meal, and I will definitely be buying them again - it seems like the mouldy pack were just an unfortunate batch, as I had no issues with the replacement product whatsoever. I'm definitely a BFree convert!
